Non-Lead Shielding
Overview
Non-lead shielding is often preferred to Lead because it eliminates lead exposure to personnel and the high costs associated with disposing of mixed waste.
NPO offers several types of non-lead gamma shielding including T-Flex, water shields, steel, and borated polyethylene. We use metal powders such as tungsten, bismuth, or iron as gamma attenuators in our T-Flex product. Our water shields provide a means to create walls of gamma shielding using water as the attenuator. Finally, steel can be used in lieu of lead for fabrications in the appropriate situation.
